The Kindred Spirit Mailbox Needs Our Help after Tropical Storm Ana

Over the weekend, Tropical Storm Ana washed the Kindred Spirit Mailbox and the nearby bench away. They discovered it was missing after the storm and several people went looking for it. Both the Mailbox and the bench have been found by some dedicated searchers who combed the area.

We made it out to Bird Island early this morning to assess the damage and develop a plan of action. The bench and the mailbox have been returned to the area, but we’re going to need some help getting the Kindred Spirit up and running again!

We need as many volunteers as we can get to help us re-install the Mailbox and the bench on THURSDAY, MAY 14th at 8AM. We will meet at the 40th Street access and walk down from there. If you’ve got one, bring a shovel.

The tides will give us about 3 hours to get the work done. We truly appreciate all of the help we can get and please spread the word. If you love the mailbox, or ever sought solace from it please pass the word along that she needs our help!

Thank You.

thank you to all the volunteers!! We have been coming to Sunset Beach since I was a young child and I remember being pulled across the inlet from Sunset to Bird Island at low tide. Kindred Spirit is definitely part of my memories and I was looking forward to seeing it this weekend for the Kindred Spirit 5k.

Thank you to all those who are working to fix Kindred Spirit!
